Collections are archived locally or nationally depending on their significance. Institutions will not accept and item if it creates duplications in their existing collective. You need to approach an institution to see whether your collection would be of interest to them. Different items within a collection may be archived in different places; for example, film footage at Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision; costumes with Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa; papers and photographs with Alexander Turnbull Library.
