National Dance Archive of New Zealand.
NGA KAITIAKI TAONGA KANIKANI O AOTEAROA

Welcome to the National Dance Archive of New Zealand

Who are we?

The National Dance Archive of New Zealand (NDA) is a charitable trust formed to encourage the preservation of New Zealand's dance heritage.

How can we help?

We are a voluntary body which develops resources to support our dance community in preserving New Zealand's dance culture and heritage. We commission oral history recordings of prominent New Zealand dance personalities. We are not a repository for archive material, but we want to point you in the right direction!

How can you help?

The National Dance Archive of New Zealand (NDA) is a registered charity, which is funded through grant applications, fundraising events, and donations. If you would like to donate to the Archive, please contact us for payment options. Please also indicate if you wish to receive a receipt. Being a registered charity all donations over $5 are tax deductible in New Zealand.

We want to encourage you:

  • To document New Zealand dance in all its glory
  • To collect and preserve material relating to the creation, performance and appreciation of all dance forms.
  • To encourage all within the New Zealand dance community to be responsible for documenting their art by maintaining their own records.

Why would you archive dance material?

  • To create a legacy for future dance generations
  • To preserve the fabric of New Zealand’s dance traditions
  • To foster collation of materials as educational resources
